When we first took him in, he was living in a greenhouse during the beginning of a heatwave. He was frightened, extremely wary of people and in very poor condition.

At first, even the smallest movement could send him running for cover. It took time, patience and plenty of love to help him feel safe again.

Slowly, though, his personality began to shine through. The frightened little piggy who once bolted at the slightest movement became one of the most outgoing guinea pigs we have ever had. Eventually, he would be waiting at the front of the cage to greet us whenever we entered the room.

It was a wonderful transformation and a reminder of just how much confidence and trust can grow when a guinea pig is given the care and patience they need.

Mr Whippy also had a wonderfully unusual social life.
